Winter!: A Day at Harlaw Reservoir
Winter is usually one of my favorite seasons. I usually associate it with Christmas markets, wearing hoodies and slightly chilly night outs. But right now it feels as though we are only getting the worst parts of winter (the cold and the wet). Being in lockdown also just makes it all feel a bit bleak. I was never really the type of person whose mood was affected by the weather, but now I get it. When the weather is cold and cloudy, my head feels cold and cloudy.
All of these photos below were taken on the same day at Harlaw Reservoir. I was feeling really down this day and really reluctantly took photos purely because I knew id regret it later. Past me was right! I would have regretted it because just because I couldn’t really appreciate the scenery and fully be present in my surroundings at the time, looking at these photos now allows me to do this. They show me a different kind of beauty associated with Winter that I would probably have never paid attention to if life were normal right now. It feels harder to connect to the world around us right now so these kinds of opportunities are ones to take full advantage of.
The reservoir was completely frozen, there were cycle tracks on there (bit worrying)
(Yes, I knew the dog was there)
