Disposable Cameras
I can’t really remember the switch between using disposable cameras because it was my only option and deliberately taking one on a night out in 2017. I’ve always loved the simplicity and novelty of disposable cameras and how nostalgic they feel (even when I was younger). At some point in my first year of uni, I bought disposable cameras on every night out and became a little bit addicted to the feeling of collecting them again at Jessops. Now, in 2021 I’ve managed to build a collection of over 300 disposable camera memories. Right now they’re sitting in a drawer slowly increasing in size and I’m beginning to panic as I have no clue what I am going to do with them all. I know I want to store and display them in a way that is personal to me and also is sensitive to what each photo means to me.
Obviously, I couldn’t add 300 photos below but I have chosen some of my favourites from 2019 and a few others from when I was younger. 2019 was an amazing year for me and I’m so glad I was able to capture the best bits in this way. I’m going to continue to do this for as long as I’m able (and can afford it) and I’m not ashamed to say that I love being able to take a photo without having to figure out all the settings (coming from someone with a photography degree).
(Not all of these photos have been taken by me).
Dad! Taken when I was around 6 I think (hence the height this is taken at).
