Leek and potato soup

This ongoing project is centred around a farmer named Andy and Northlees farm in Kinross. My aim is to photograph his daily life and tasks as a farmer in modern society as well as exploring the stereotype that comes with the farming lifestyle

This is Andy Pedgrift.

My goal for this project is to show every aspect of his life on a modern-day farm and everything that comes with it. This project will be a perfect mix of the modern changes and tasks as well as showing the typecast farming lifestyle.

“I mean it’s hard because nobody really knows what’s going to happen do they? You’re just overruled by everything aren’t you?”

— Andy Pedgrift on being asked how he predicts Brexit will potentially affect his farm

Three years later I have revisited Andy.

After three years of Covid I finally visited Andy Pedgrift again for a new continuation of Leek and Potato Soup. Northlees Farm is thriving and felt like a comforting time capsule to three years ago. Very few changes have taken place besides the constant rotation of animals and species.

The hospitality and warmth from Andy and Jean was addicting and felt like visiting old friends. I have shot a monochromatic series of photographs for this visit. Trying to experiment with lighting and mood.

This is an ongoing project!
